You wouldn't know it from looking at these amazing shots my friend Nicole took, but Paul has been a lot to handle lately. Not only is he teething like mad to no end (at least no teeth, yet), but he's obsessed with crawling (yes, full on crawling as of today, Father's Day) and pulling himself up to standing, which he's doing with more and more ease. All of this means a lot less sleeping, lower lows and higher highs (for all of us). And then comes a day like this past Friday. It was the kind of day I can live on for a long time. Simple perfection. A beautiful spot in the park. Swans. Snacks. Picnic blankets. Friends. Stroller Naps. Here's a little meditation I wrote while basking in Friday's glory:
Lying on a blanket in Prospect Park, babes sleeping in their strollers, perched on a tiny hill covered in shade, I look across the path to the lily pond covered water, listen to Blackbird,and watch Nicole catch a sweet moment of sleepy peace. Oh, Fridays. Please come again soon.
